gsl-se weber gurus

hey guys i was wonering what setup u guys have on ur gsl-se webers, i have one and when i am getting on it at WOT its fine all the way through 3rd, but when i slam it into 4th it starts bucking and back firing, like its not getting fuel, so i changed the fuel filter and got a holley fuel pressure regulator tuned to 6psi... i dont know what the problem is..

if you remove that big nut right near the inlet fitting, you will find a filter. remove the fuel filter. also, look at the design of the fuel inlet. its like a funnel meaning it has to fill up for the fuel to hit the needle and seat. Drilling out the funnel and enlarging the fuel inlet will prevent fuel starvation at high RPM.

What is the gph (gallons per hour) rating of that fuel pump? I like ones over 65gph for the rotormotor.

if the pump is good, there is no need to increase the fuel pressure as it will not solve the problem. in fact, it will make your idle worst.

For one thing the Purolator pumps are absolute ****. I initially put one on my essentially stock '82 and it wouldn't push enough to get the car moving aywhere near a snails pace. I actually switched to a universal Carter inline pump that works 200% better.

P.S.- I sell those Purolator pumps at work and don't recommend them for use in anything except for lawn mowers and tractors. You be the judge.

Not to start a flame war or anything, but I haven't had a problem with my Carter since I got it (about 2 yrs now). Only time I see a complaint about them is because they are too noisey. Got the 7psi carter with a 1-4psi Holley FPR.

the reason why I said its a junk is due to inconsistency in fuel pressure. Not just one pump but several and thats including replacing the fuel filter and such. Noise can be eliminated by using a thicker rubber insulation as in beach sandals. My recently completed project RX-4 is equipped with a holley red. Its even quieter than the old FACET 6 psi pump.

I have a gsl-se with a weber on it. I still run the GSL-SE fuel pump but use a mallory return style fuel pressure regulator. I have no fuel problems at ALL.

YES, when I had a different fuel pressure regualtor that wasnt a return style one. Wouldnt allowe pressure to get high enough under load

it can be done. this is in my FB with IDA using a MSD FI pump

IIRC, bottom is the inlet. Top right is the return.. Top left goes to the FP gauge and carb. Be sure to put a weber fuel jet or something similar where the soft return line meets the hard line. This will regulate the flow back to the tank

yeah that is exactly what I did. Ive never heard of using a fuel jet in the return line though. Mine does seem to work just fine. How exactly did u set that up? Have you tried before with and without the jet, and how was the difference?

Wheen the fuel will take the path of least resistance and run straight back to the gas tank. thats why you need the jet to make the car the path of least resistance. And your fuel pump is your problem. What jets are you running?
