gsl-se tranny on gsl??

Hey all! I am looking to do a transmission conversion from auto to 5 spd on a gsl...
I have found a gsl-se tranny, will this bolt up to a 12a engine? If not, what transmissions are compatible?
Thanx!

Awesome.. A new development has occured... This guy who is selling it, (it's in a yard) says that the previous owner of the vehicle had put a "brand new" engine in the car, everything was gone except for the block, so all I could see is that it said 13B... I am assuming that the engine of the GSL-SE is the same as any 86-88 13B right?
Ifso, does this mean that any 85gsl-se transmission, up through any 88 transmission will fit in on the 12a motor?
My fear is that, if the owner put an 89-91 13b in the first gen (I haven't learned if that is possible or not), will THAT tranny not be able to mate with a 12a?
I know this question is kinda convoluted, but I just really don't wanna tear everything apart to find out that they wont match...
I have done some reading and have learned that I will have to do some fashioning of materials to make the manual sit right in the previously automatic bay...
I'm just hoping there won't be any terrible surprises...
Thanx again!

i hear all the trannies fit, so even if it is a s5 motor (89-91) it shouldnt matter.

Don't know about 86+, but I put a GSL-SE transmission in my 83 GS and it's great. 5th is a little taller, and I like it.

Check out this page at Felix Miata's FAQ. It covers basically everything concerning transmission interchangeability.
