GSL-SE Strut Mounts

Are all 81-85 strut mounts the same for the 12a cars and GSLSE or does the SE have special mounts? Everything I'm finding for front suspension is saying struts, springs (according to racing beat and random forum searches) are it's all the same but now and then I see a mount that says excludes SE.

Rotors, calipers, pads and backing plate is different. Strut mounts, struts, bearings and springs are the same.

Hooray, full disclosure time. The car is currently at the shop getting fitted with RB springs, tokico blues, and front mounts. I'm currently having daily 3 way calls with the shop, myself, and Jim Tanner at racing beat because the shop says the springs are too short and they spin around and pop when driving it. Thus far part numbers have been verified and spring lengths measured and everything is coming out just fine. I wanted to verify that the mounts weren't the issue as I was 99% sure they were the same regardless of model. We're at the point where the shop is sending RB pictures because something just isn't adding up here. It is the original suspension it rolled out of the factory with (hence the necessity for new parts). What is being missed, wrong struts with the right PN on them? Is the car some funky one off nobody knew existed? Did the shop mess something up?

I missed the 81-85 in your post. What I said about the brakes goes for 84-85. These cars had bigger spindles and wheel bearings than the earlier cars.
I think the mounts, springs, struts are the same for 81-85. I believe SAs are a little different?

The 1984-85 GSL and GLS-SE have a larger spindle size to accomidate a bigger bearing. The spring rate might be a little bigger but other then that, as far as the spindles are concerned, they are the same. The brakes and brakes parts are a different story.

What year car do you have and what year spindles did you use?

Original, the parts changed are the strut cartridge, spring, and top mount. The housing and spindle aren't being changed.

The strut mount is the same. I actually used a strut mount from my '83 on my '84 SE.
