GSL-SE stalled at red-line

so i got myself a day pass to drive around, i went to a rotary shop to order some stuff a pick up an order for a friend, after it when i got home i had dinner and i was out driving again :burnout:

i went to visit a friend working at a gas station, we talked a while, and when i left for home i came to a quite 3 way stop and needed to turn a 90 degree right turn and decided to did it by drifting a burnout.

so i dropped the clutch at 2000rpm and it skidded its way to the buzzer, when it got to the buzzer i let off the gas and saw all my idiot lights on, and it stalled. It was a slight hill so i rolled my self to the curb. I thought to myself, "i really dun it now, i blew it up ****!"

my only chance of starting it was that i would hope it was flooded. i tried to crank it with the fuel line clamped. Didnt work the first time, sounded different, not flooded different, just different, i know what a flood sounds like(a horse), but it dont think it was flooded, maybe majorly flooded.

Tried the second time, on a different line, i had no flashlight could see which one was the fuel line, no luck. My heart starts to rush, as i switch the clamp to a different line, i try to crank it. I got more scared, the battery voltage was starting to dive. But it started to fire a bit, but the battery was weak. This time i held it wot and cranked it. Then i took the clamp off the fuel line, and the moment of truth, it barely started up! Thank God it was flooded, not something worse like something blown.

What would make it flood at redline? my temp was normal, 1/3 across the meter, and 4kg/cm oil pressure and 3/4 full gas tank. But would it make a difference if i was only going about 10km/h when i let off the gas from redline, so it basically dropped from 8000rpm to 800 in a second.

any ideas why it stalled?

I think the lesson would be to not red-line into a burnout to a speed of about 30mph and then drop it back to 2mph within a second?
Next time shift into second coming out of the turn if you hit red-line... I don't know the reason, I'm curious myself. Just thought I'd be a smartass.

Just venturing a guess here, but redlining it under those conditions doesn't allow for the fuel to completely combust, couple that with the engine dieng and the rpms still up with the injectors trying to provide the needed fuel, flooding seems quite pausible.

Next time it floods, pull the inj, fusible link instead of clamping the fuel line. Clamping doesn't close off fuel flow completely and can damage the fuel hose leading to a high pressure fuel leak down the road.

could it just be that maybe your fuel pump or filter was bad and could not keep up with the demands at redline? Then trying to start the car with the fuel line clamped makes sense why it wouldnt start, and when you tried another line the time spent cranking while the car did not turn over was just the extra time needed for the gas to mkae its way back to the engine. Ionno really, just guessing.

ya the vice grips are far away from my car now, i didnt know where the egi fuse was when it stalled, but now i know, and its a hell of alot easier!

I'm pretty sure it stalled cuz i let off the gas, skidding at 50km/h and then letting all the gas off, then wheel speed dropping down to 5km/h instantly. I guess the excess fuel required for red-line didn't get burned when it dropped down to idle.

I think it can be the fuel and air filter, but i was on the highway earlier and wanted to redline it in the acceleration lane in 2nd gear, went all the way to 8000rpm no problem.
