GSL-SE rebuild, optimization? (track car with daily driver considerations)
Car currently runs, but slowly sips coolant, due for a rebuild.
Car must retain smog equipment, and pass.
I suppose a mild street port will still pass. (It does for 2nd and 3rd gen cars, generally) What about porting the throttle body?
Car will get new clutch and lightweight flywheel.
While the engine is out, what other considerations should be taken into account? What would you replace? (fpd? new vaccum lines? injectors cleaned?) Are GSL-SE TPS's prone to failure like FCs? Does the 6 port system get stuck?
Cost not *too much* of a consideration, however the rest of the budget will go into suspension upgrades, roll bar, rims/tires, and full repaint.

It'll pass smog with mild streetport. Looked into that awhile ago. Should pass fine with the throttle body ported, I don't see a prob with increased airflow and smog.
With motor out I would put in a new 17.5mm oil pump, 85psi rear pressure regulator, an oil baffle plate. Clearance the rotors and e-shaft. Balance rotating assembly.
Clean the injectors and intake tract. Amsiol PowerFoam is de bomb for this.

Well, I just put in an -se engine. Here's what I would do differently:
Do your coolant lines! I had more problems with rad/heater hoses than everything else!
Definitely clean out your intake manifolds. I just got a couple of used manifolds, and they are nasty inside!
And yes, get a new FPD. This could save your car!
