the 1994-2005 Miata has the same diff design as the 84-85 Rx7. the 86-91 Rx7 non turbo is similar, but the pinion is longer

the 90-93 Miata has a smaller diff, and its not compatible. the 2006-2015 miata has a diff, but not sure what it is. the Rx8 and FD and FC turbo are all bigger

Mazda used a clutch type diff from 84-88, and then 89-90 its viscous, and the 94-2002 is a Torsen. the 2003-2005 is a Togichi Fuji
