Cool gsl-se intake and engine porting

i am wondering if porting the intake runners and the housings makes much difference on a stock 85 gsl-se. the rotary valves for the secondary runners were stuck and had to be removed. is it possible to make the two holes for the secondary runners into one big port and do the same on the housings to match ports. basicly making the 6 port engine into a 4 port.

if you are bored, you could do this. I don't see much gain with a "stock" GSL-SE

I seem to recall reading about this somewhere. I think if you remove the runner between the ports it will allow the apex seal to snag on the trailing edge of the port, in turn damaging the seal.

I have a streetported GSL-SE. It is quite noticably faster. Do not grind out the center piece. It is bad for far too many reasons. You can go too big on ports. Unfortunately there are people that do it all the time. If you do port it, be sure to get a good header, preferably the Racing Beat streetport exhaust system which is a long primary system. the intake is really a restricition though because of the small afm. If you don't need to replace the engine, spend the money on a good ecu such as a Microtech or Haltech. Something to that effect. Then upgrade the intake manifold to a different one. The 2nd gen ones are a nice upgrade. They are cheap and plentiful. Worry about the exhaust and then do a direct fire conversion. All of these mods will make a much bigger difference than just porting it.
