GSL-SE Intake and 6-port issues
My bone stock 85.... I noticed my 6-ports had seized secondary to not driving it enough and almost never hitting 3000 rpm's when I did.
Ok, time to fix this
Took everything off and got down to the sleeves. On the way, tore up one rod(rear) in the process. OK, let's go to E**y and see what I can get. Done.
In the process of taking all of this crap off, of course, NUMEROUS hoses broke, cracked, or just checked out of service. No prob, ordered a set from Baker Precision. A little on the fat side but I've been told they will work.
Next, the injector connectors were rotten. Had to replace those. Cleaned the injectors myself(no sonic, don't have the equipment) and put them back in with new O-rings and seats.
Got the old gasket finally scraped off and noticed while I was down there the oil metering pump(rear side near engine), had been leaking "slowly" for years. Guess now I'm gonna have to do a rebuild on that too.
This is a totally cherry car I bought about 10 years ago that "really" a little old lady in Birmingham had owned. Other than cosmetic and some other upgrades, I've done nothing to it.
I guess age does take its toll.
But AAARRRGGGhhhhh! What else is gonna break before I'm done!

I feel your pain. Don't worry though, once you have replaced every single part in the last couple years you wont have these problems anymore. Glass half full?
How do you almost never get over 3000?? I cant' seem to pull out of my drive way under that!
Yeah, old J-tin is like that. And british and german, etc.... It will all break eventually, and the cycle starts again. Isn't this fun!!

Yeah it's all part of the fun of having an old car
As funk73 said though, it is a glass half full situation - once your done replacing all that stuff you shouldn't have any problems for quite a while.

As the old saying goes:
A pessimist will tell you the glass is half empty;
An optimist will tell you the glass is half full;
An engineer will tell you that the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

It's still killin' me though. I ordered a rebuild kit for the OMP today from Lowe. Not looking forward to putting it on. My best guess is I'll break some of my OM lines in the process. Now let me call all the evil demons: What else can go wrong?

BTW, not to plug E##y, but there is one of these (L6, Ocean Blue Metallic, GSL-SE) on E##y right now. It is the most TOTALLY perfect 1st gen I've seen in a LONG time..... Wish I had the bucks.
I feel your pain, but you really need to put better titles on your threads if you want help. It also helps others when you do SEARCHES.
Not many people need help with "AAaaaarrrgggghhhhh!!!!" (Original thread title)
But plenty of people could help you with "GSL-SE Intake and 6-port issues" (New Thread Title)

Most of the time, 3rd & 1st gen in the garage and 1st gen in the driveway. You think like I do. I hope you can get your problems straightened out.
I don't know if I'm Psychic or a victim of confirmation bias but if I think about something going bad, it usually does in a day or two and yes, I understand that I'm ignoring all the times I thought of something and it didn't break.
Hey, maybe I should get an 800 number and be a TV Psychic except I'd tell people that they're going to die soon, $25 please, before they die.
While you are there...
