GSL-SE high idle issue

well, i had a leak in the fuel rail. so i took off my whole intake, fixed that, put everything back together. put in some radiator fluid and start it up. and i also wired open the 5th and 6th ports while i was down there. ok high idle like normal at about 3k, but it usually starts kickin down after a few minutes. but it hasnt. ive had it running for a while, way longer than it needs. checkin all the lines makeing sure everthing was hooked up, everthing looks fine to me. i cant find anything! i even took it for a spin and it wont kick down. somebody help!

Make sure your throttle plates are able to close all the way. Sometime last year my cruise control cable was keeping my throtttle from closing all the way. The clip that holds the tension screw came off causing the cable to get sidetracked holding the throttle open.

Since you had the intake off to repair the fuel leak, I would be looking for vacuum leaks, been there before. I assume you are trying to go slower by wiring open your aux ports.

yeah, ive done a visual check and all seem to be on. i guess my only option is to re-take it off and make sure everything underneath looks good. and no im not trying to slower, just expeirimenting. they have been closed shut, and dont open so i never had any top end. so im just gonna see how it iswith them wired open.

It took me a couple months to find 3 small leaks in my 2nd gen. I finally had to take it apart and reassemble more carefully from scratch to eliminate all of the leaks.

What issues are you having with with the aux ports not working?

Possibly a vacuum hose connected to the wrong place.

no somebody before me either replaced the cats or messed with them. basically that metal tube that comes out of the cat is non-exsistant and the hole is welded shut. so.. ill have to wait for a new exhaust system for them to work right again.

Also check that you have the oil metering pump actuator rod attached to the throttle linkage correctly. It's possible to hook the rod up with the throttle bracket flipped backwards. It will cause this also. It's one of two things, a vaccum leak or binding throttle linkage.

Vacuum Leak ... to be sure , get some starting fluid spray and LIGHTLY spray some around the lines while the motor is running ... if you get an increase in RPMs , it's definitely a leak ... could be alot of things , but I would start here ... Good Luck !!
