GSL-SE and Hawk HP+ (not HPS Street)...Squeals
Last month, I rebuilt my front brake calipers and installed new SS braided brake lines, and on reassembly installed new Hawk HP+ (Street/Track) compound brake pads. Now I get squealing brakes at low pedal pressure stopping, such as when you get to the last 20 feet prior to a full stop at a light or stop sign. Under full braking pressure, or higher speeds, these things now stop the car on a dime with no noise at all, but squeal at low vehicle speeds and light pressure.
Is that consistent with what others have found on FB brakes (preferably SE's), and Hawk HP+ compound pads?
Prior to installation, I did sand the rotors down to remove the deposits from the prior pads, and once installed, bedded the new pads as recommended by the Hawk brochure that came with the brake pads (60mph to 5mph stops 5 times with cool off in between, then 30-5 stops 3 times with cooling, then 10 minutes of driving to cool off the pads and rotors).
I'm happy with the stopping performance, just was curious if it's normal to get this squeal. TIA,

Your brake pads have just have a bit of chatter since they are so new, the pads are so thick that they're basically riding on the rotor but not completely causing vibration. That should go away once you use them longer. Iif your willing to take your rotor and pads off again, buy some brake quiet and throw some of that on the pads, that should stop the squeal your hearing. If not it's perfectly normal, but annoying. I think i've heard you can use vaseline also in place of the brake quiet? Not sure Good Luck
