GSL-SE gone RB Carb Kit Runs!!!!
Well I finally got the Racing Beat 13B 6-Port Holley 650cfm carb/intake kit installed, and fired her up last night. I also installed Racing Beat's Street Port Exhaust system, Duel Pulleys, and did the electric fan conversion, so the only things on the belts are the water pump, and alt.

She has a nice low pitch hum at idle, and is not all that loud when reved up, but it does have a slight metalic ring to it at high RPM's, but nothing like the chainsaw sound a lot of rotaries have.
I still have to figure out what wires to jumper so that my fuel pump doesn't turn off after the engine start, and I let off the ignition switch/key. The RB kit assumes you keep the ECU installed, so they tell you what to jumper on the ECU, but I removed mine, so I have to figure out what to jumper on the harness instead. All that is needed on the ECU mounting panel is the Fuel pump relay. I'm going to re-wire the entire car to simplify, and organize the wires. Mazda does some crazy things to save on wire (many systems are all intertwined).

Really nice.........
I am almost there.......I am about to do the electric fan
RB exaust..........and get rid of the smog stuff......
But I am going to keep the AC.......and the fuel injection.....for now..........
How much power gain did you get form your new toys......?

Racing Beat says with my setup I should get 180hp (at the flywheel I assume), but thats also assuming I have an engine with perfect compression which is what? 8.5:1, or 9:1 for an 84 GSL-SE?
The last time I got my compression tested Mazda gave it a rating of 7, which is in the good range. That doesn't mean the ration is 7:1, it is a rating number they use.
It was pretty cool last night when I started it, all the MMO (mystery marvel oil) I had in the engine to keep it nice during the months I had it in the garage came out like a mosquito fogger... smoke...smoke...and more smoke.. I couldn't drive it down the street because the fuel pump was just dangeling (was impatient and didn't mount it yet).
I can understand you guys wanting AC, but I have a 2002 Rave 4 fully loaded for daily driving, so look at the interior of my Rex....

No actually they are Autometer Ultra Lite, and I got them all from Summit racing. The Speedo is a digital Nordskog and is really cool, because it calculates 1/4 mile times, and 0-60 times.

after 5 minutes of staring at the picture I can agree that you know what you're talking about :P...lol...
autometer are probably what I'm going to have to use for all my projects...except when I 1jz my supra...Autometer boost guages suck...well, not all of em, some of them actually start on "0".

There is so much to do still... Interior paint job, new pedals, new brake lines... Maybe a rear wing... Camber Caster Plates, and eventually GC coil-overs.
I've got RB springs and Tokico Illumina's on there, and have some Diamond racing wheels for autox 13x8 with 235x45-13 (Kumho Ecsta V700). tires. My street wheels are Diamond Racing Pro Series 15x7 front, 15x8 rear, and am getting 225x45-15 tires all around (Kumho Ecsta V700). SHould look, and handle pretty nicely. I got the rear wheel with 5" backspacing and the front with 4" backspacing so that they are flush with each other on the outside, like a 360 Modena.
Can you tell I am excited? Heh. What can I say, I am blessed.

Well I have been auto-xing on and off since 1998. I finally got me some R-Compound tires last year and did 2 races, and was blown away at the grip, but I had some problems with my car. It leaked oil, and power steering fluid, and I didn't want to race it anymore untill I got it in order. It's embarrasing when the announcer says over the loudspeaker, that I have an oil leak. heh. I started ripping into the car and discovered I didn't liek the complexity of all the emmision control devices, and other unneeded crap, so I started taking it all off to simplify things. I knew I was going to go carburated, and do header/exhaust etc... What I ended up with you saw in the pictures...
SO anyways I plan on doing a full season of auto-x next summer, and also take it to a few track days at Pacific Raceway (Seattle/Tacoma area), and maybe a couple other tracks within driving distance. Oregon has a track I know. I am doing this purely for fun. I want to get good enough to maybe do some real road racing someday.
I also want a weekend fun car. There are some fun roads out here on the west coast. I am from Minnesota where there is nothing but flat straight roads.

technically it's not street legal untill it's 25 years old, but I am registering the car in a county that does not require emmisions testing, so I can still get Tabs in the mail with no visual cheack.

What electric fan did you use......?
AC.........I need AC...I am in Simi Valley....and after the Fires .......I need AC to breathe.......Air quality is real bad........also 100 degree days.......Red interior......
Traffic jams.....and I can always take the belt off.......
Need something to cool down with......
