GSL-SE Fuel Pump Testing

My car has been sitting for five years or so. I have been cleaning out fuel lines, the tank, etc. Removed and unplugged the fuel pump and it looks really bad. Plugged it up to a small 12v battery with jumper lines. Totally dead, no noise, nothing. The car doesn't run and I have no way to know if it is good or not. Last time the car ran, the fuel pump worked fine. Any tricks how to test it while it is off of the car?

you might try cleaning it out a little, gasoline turns solid if you let it sit long enough. on the bench put power and ground on it, if it works, it works, if it doesn't its done

I think you are right. It was stuck from sitting. I put it to a full size car battery and eventually it fired up. No real special testing procedure, just hook one side to positive and the other to negative. 212,000 miles and still ticking.
