GSL-SE exhaust sleves.

I have been researching this and have found nt much. Can exhaust sleves be easily changed? I was thinking of putting turbo2 exhaust sleves in the engine. Also Does the engine have to be apart to acomplish this? Pics would help a lot, I'm one who learns by seeing. Aything is appreciated. And if you've heard some thing or just have a negitive opioion to express please keep it out of this thread...

Yes the engine has to physcially be apart to do this. The sleeves are a bitch to get out. Unfortunately the T-II sleeves will not interchange with the GSL-SE sleeves. The casting is different between engines and the sleeves are physically different sizes between models. There is no point to this anyways. The GSL-SE engine does not have the exhaust splitters that the 2nd gen 6 port engines have. I have custom sleeves machined for my 2nd gen engine but they wouldn't fit my GSL-SE engine. I couldn't even adapt them.

The GSL-SE doesn't have the exhaust splitters? I could've sworn my engine has them. It's a mystery swap that most people have deemed to be a 6 port.. Well I'll have to take off my header and see for sure....

If you've got splitters, you've got a 2nd gen engine. S4 or S5 is the question.

You'll know an S5 because it will have the provisions for a knock sensor which is a threaded hole directly above the trailng spark plugs. The GSL-SE and the S4 housings look pretty damn close. On the S5 engines, there is no egr provision on the center housing nor is there on the GSL-SE engine. There is on an S4 though. The GSL-SE center housing also is the only one to have a large protruding block on the center housing immediately below the exhaust manifold. This is the reason why Racing Beat flanges are cut the way they are. The other engines do not have this. This should give you a few things to look for that will ehlp you determine which engnie you have. The other possibility is mixed and matched housings but this is fairly rare.
