GSL-SE Engine Replacement

OK, I am new to RX-7's. I have admired them for many years. While I am new to the RX-7, I am NOT new to restoration or major automotive repairs. I could search and maybe find the answer I need. But I am not. Flame me if you must, but I prefer you just ignore me.

I am looking at an '84 GSL-SE that needs a new motor. I would prefer to just get a reman, locally. Does anyone know a good place to get a reman motor in the San Diego/orange county area?

Also, how hard is it to replace a steering box. Does it require any special tools? I've done it on my Aerostar, not fun, but not difficult either. Replaced the whole rack as an assembly.

How tough is it to set the ignition timing since I don't have piston 1 to locate TDC?

Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Mike
