GSL-SE Cold start assist thermal was pellet Questions

Okay, some may already know, but im turbocharging my GSL-SE using an S4 turbo and "custom" modded manifold, anyway as you all know the s4 turbo is WATER and OIL cooled, since im putting on a ported and modded TB on i have removed the cold start assist what im wanting to know is you all know the Cold Start Assist/thermal wax pellet has a pressure fed and drain coolant passage, one hose coming from the rear housing or end plate, not to sure and one going to the water pump housing, my main question is which one of those hoses is the Flow, as in
does the coolat flow from the rear housing/endplate and then go back into the water pump or vice versa, because i am going to be using those lines for my water cooling on the turbo and im also getting the RB plate for under the oil filter pedistal for my oil feed and also so i can put in a mechanical Oil pressure gauge, we will see how funds are, i may end up just drilling and tapping the filter pedistal. then tapping the front cover for my drain for the turbo.

anyway i hope someone can answer my question about the flow direction of the coolant hoses that were originally going to the thermal wax pellet.

thanks

Greg,

I am pretty sure that the coolant goes from the back of the water pump housing to the rear plate. Basically the thermostat blocks the flow to the radiator during cold condions so that all of the flow (except for the small amount that goes though the jiggle pin location on the t-sat) is bypassed just through that line that goes to the rear plate. I will take a look at the S4 FSM and I will let you know how they have it routed.

So im going to be able to run the feed from the rear housing, but the return i can not run to the back of the waterpump i have to tap the exit pipe that goes to the bottom hose of the radiator?

I don't see any reason why you couldn't just run it to the back of the water pump housing. It should work fine seeing how you arn't going to need the line for the wax pellet. Maybe ask some of the 2nd gen turbo guys to see what they think.
