Unhappy Gsl-se Carb conversion...need help asap! rx7 guru's, im looking at you...lol

Ok, ive got my carb on and im trying to get it to run well. The reason for the swap was a fried computer...so, i pulled the computer and it runs without it, if i have the coils and the fuel pump wired to the battery. However, theres still a few problems i need to adress.

(1)Mysterious vaccumn (Sp?) leak. I can hear it, but i cant see it. It won't let it idle correctly, or at a low enough rpm....Any ideas?

(2)Tach isn't working. Does it need the ECU to function?

(3)Second fusable link is still smoking... I thought it was the ecu... Whats on the circuit with the middle fusable link?

(4) Trailing coils seem not to fire... How can I work around this?

(5) Mysterous antifreeze coming out the exhaust... Possibly a gasket leak...

(6) Any suggestions on how to rewire the ignition or the fuel pump?

Other than that, the swaps going fairly smoothly. Advice or suggestions on any of the things listed would be a big help. Oh year, its an 85 6 port 13B, I made the manifold, its a carter (edelbrock) 625 cfm carb.

Your trailing ignitor is blown. The symptoms of this are having your tach not working and obviously your trailing not firing.

The antifreeze could be a blown water jacket

For the vacuum leak, get a can of carb cleaner and spray it around gaskets and mating surfaces. If the rpm changes and the idle smoothes out youve found your leak.

To rewire the fuel pump and ignition id just start with a fused 12v source and wire it from there

Dude, not to scare the ____ out of you, but man that can't be good! Had a '87 Rx-7 that had trouble starting (the notorious flooding issue) even after wiring up the fuel cut-off switch. And it would just by gosh stall at 5,000+RPM (to this day still have no idea why). I smelled a "sweet" smell coming from the exhaust at idle and later determined the water jacket issue. It's not that I just KNOW this is the solution to the problem but, antifreeze in the combustion chamber has got to contribute to how it runs somewhat.

Have you experienced any of these symptoms? Just curious cuz I blamed mine all on the anifreeze.... {)

The antifreeze problem seems to have gone away... weird... as for the training coil, could that be whats making the fusable link blow too? the trailing coil was fine before, I tested it and it appears to be fine...

Are you running a distributor? I thought if you did this sort of swap you need to throw a distributor in the mix to control the timing.

I told you its the ignitor, they go out which prevents the trailing coil from firing and kills the tach.

replace the ignitor
