GSL-SE acceleration question...

I have a 85 GSL-SE and around 3700/3800 I feel the 6 ports come in, but above 6k I don’t feel the power I think I should. It will climb on up to 7k, but it doesn’t want to. It climbs from 5-6k just fine. I would thing it would climb from 6-7k even quicker. I bought the car this way and I’ve never driven a GSL-SE before this, so I’m not sure how it should drive. Any ideas?

Based on your question, I can assume that you are running stock exhaust. Which is very restrictive at the 6k+ RPM and above. Stock set up power curves show that there is actually drop off of power at 6k. A well designed free flowing exhaust and headers will solve this problem.

exhaust, direct fire, and get rid off the factory fuel pump. Mine goes to 7500 alot quicker since I did the pump and direct fire.

i agree, mine does die off after 6K. going to redline in 4th dials up 108mph and after that the car is not too slow but doesn't pull much after 110mph. i had the SE up to 120mph today and it felt like it had the power. i need the racing beat dual pipe setup. i have to wait until the 1st of july to get it.
