GSL-SE 13b questions

I have the opportunity to get my hands on a rebuilt GSL-SE 6 port 13b and tranny for $275

I was thinking of (if I got it) putting it in my '84 GS.

I had a few questions:

1) Is the GSL-SE 13b better or worse on emissions than the 12a? It will still be FI

2) Will the 12a rat's nest hook up to the 13b? ( I still need to pass CA Smog)

3) that's about it, maybe how much power an SE 13b makes?
I know it's got better low-end torque, and thats why I want it.

oh wait
4) Do you think the swap could be done in less than 2 weeks?

Thanks for your time and help

1) I would think its better since FI would be more precise with Mixtures (Of course you still need Cats to pass though!)

2) I don't think the 12a Rats nest can be changed over... Im pretty sure you could be able to find one from someone which removed it, if it doesn't come with it that is

3)It makes 135hp Stock compared to the 100hp from a 12a

4) It can be done in 2 weeks as long as you have everything you need. Harness, computer, Front cross member from GSL-SE ( the engine is mounted differently i believe) there might be other things im forgetting.

1 - honestly, i don't know. but if i were to guess, it would put out more stuff than a 12A just because of the greater volume.

2 - if i'm not mistaken, they have their own emissions crap that you might need to install with it.

3 - 135 HP for stock specs! your swap may yield more or less ...

4 - i can't see why not, as long as you have everything. it could probably be done over a weekend ... how much do you know and how fast do you work?

i believe the cross members are the same, but if the GS is manual transmission, the driver's side engine mount will be different ... the SE's left side engine mount is the same as the one used on the automatic-equipped cars.

alright...

could someone be so kind as to tell me all the parts I will need to install the 13B from the GSL-SE into my Manual GS?

It's my only car, so I don't want to get started until I have all the parts.

you know what, thanks for those who replied, but I'm not going to get it.

My parents decided to be close minded on the subject of me getting one.

They don't realize the benefits that this would yield. As it is, my 12a is falling apart, and isn't even close to passing smog. I need some new parts for it, and the estimated cost to get them and fix the motor exceeds the $275 of this 13b package.

Hey Adam
How is that bumper working for you? What new parts does it need to pass smog?

the gslse crossmember is NOT the same as the gs or any 12a powered car, if you are planning to put one or buy a gslse crossmember or buy a RB engine mount to fit a 13b in a 12a chassis. if you find a wrech gslse take every thing out and put it in you gs, that my suggestion
