Should work.... more importantly if it's not an 83 and up GSL rear then you're going to need to disassemble the the diff to change the pinion flange as the pre 83's are smaller.

not sure if there's a difference in the e-brake cables or not but there must be a difference with the master cylinder as parts places ask disc or drum rear when replacing the master. don't know if there's a difference in the proportioning valve either. u can always check to see of the part numbers differ.

No, the ebrake cable will not work. You'll need one for a disc brake model.

Depending on the year of the rear end, you might have to use the driveshaft that came with it. Otherwise, you'll have to replace the flange as stated above.

I just performed this same swap on my 85GS a couple of years ago. Didn't change the master cylinder or the proportion valve when I did it. Everything works great.

Good luck.

You need to replace the rear right and left cables. There's a slight difference in length between the 2 and I can never remember which side is longer. Black Dragon has decent prices for them.

If I remember right in 83" they had both small axle and big axle with different spline counts.

the short answer is yes.

84/85 disk to 85 disk should not run into any problems.
