I have a 1985 rx7 GS.Does that mean its a regular rx7 or is it a rx7 gsl-se?Also i took it to a mufler shop to get a quote and he said my catalic converter is leaking and it would me about $700 to fix it but i was wondering if i could just weld the leak so it will pass emissions?Do you think that would work? Thanks
Aaron

A GS is different than a GSL-SE. The -se has LSD, different engine, etc.

You can replace your cat for a lot less than $700, if you're willing to put it on yourself. Especially if you find a used one (try the 1st gen parts for sale section).
