Question ground control coilovers ... anybody?

been doing some research ... found a thread from March '02 (by Mags) but it didn't give me what i wanted ...

i've been thinking about getting the Ground Control Coilover kit for the little rotary, and i wanted to see if anyone out there is running them,a nd moreover, find out what you think ...

i want them mostly for the adjustability, however i'm concerned about if there is any cutting or welding involved.

also, what the overall feel of the system is ... in other words, aside from the adjustible ride height, is there a remarkable advantage to them, as opposed to the Illimina 2's with some nice springs and bars.

anyone?

look here i found a way to help you after all... one good turn deserves another... i have previously built the ground control coil-over set up... it wasn't that hard to do, but the spring perch(sp?) does have to be cut off and welded back on about 6 inches lower than stock for the set up to work... like i said it is not that difficult but you don't want to get it so hot that it worps the strut tube!!! this was done on a 85 gslse owned by david88vert... he is on the forum here, ask him how he liked it... btw he also used the illumina struts...

I helped my cousin do it on his 240Z, and it wasn't that bad (except there's 2 more to do because of the IRS) But doesn't the threaded collar with adjustable perch go over the strut tube, not the old spring perch? That's the way it was on his car anyway. I'm planning on going that route myself in the future, with some camber plates too.
