Is it hard to go into second gear when shifting it fast? Could be a synchro going out. Also may be a little low on gear oil in tranny.

the one you need to check is under the car there's a plug on the side of the transmission you need to remove it and put your little finger in it (or a piece of wire, ziptie etc.) and see if you can touch the oil if you can't then it's low but usually if it's noisy and low it's toast.
might be best to pull the drainplug and check for "the silver fur ball" on the magnet, the silver fur is metal from the transmission but if you pull the drian you better be ready to fill it too.

When I changed my clutch in the summer, I put my car on ramps with the front, then jacked it as high as it would go, a little bit at a time on each side. There was *just* enough room to pull the tranny out under the engine and front of the car.

Another way to do it if your still retaining the stock 12A, you can pull the whole motor with the tranny still attached. A bit more work, but then you can inspect/clean your engine.

Its the screw/bolt with a square head. Also the one you take out to check level of gear oil. Make sure you put in AT LEAST 80 weight but 90 is preferred. You should also go ahead and buy syntheti while you are doing it. Only takes I believe 1.5-1.75 quarts

Put your front wheels on ramps, jack up the rear and put ramps under the rear wheels. This makes for a very stable work area and you have enough room to slide the tranny out.
I do this when I work on my exhaust or any other undercarriage maintenance.
Try it!

when u speak of ramps....how high are the ramps b/c i noticed that most of them are only like 5-6 inches.....is that all the more clearance i would need....also i think my 7 was previously lowered before i bought it....

on a good note i got my new tires and they fit grreat....makes the rear end sit a little high but makes the car look a lot more aggressive......hopefully i can get underneath here soon to replace the tranny....parker

On a side note, I would back the car onto ramps first, put on the e-brake, and then jack the front up. This way the car would be held on the ramps with the brake opposed to with nothing if you do the fronts first. Just an idea. Good luck and I hope your tranny is OK.
