What color are you having it painted? Are you staying with the white or doing a color change?

These are some Aussie flares that were made specifically for FBs. They're still available through FibreMaz. I think the transition to the body is smoother.

But the price is about twice that of the eBay flares.

Your car? Did you trim the fenders? It doesn't look like it.

I did check out one Aussie site that used to sell flares, but they don't make them anymore. Plus the Aussies don't like to ship things to the states. Something about exorbitant shipping costs.

No, that's not my car; I don't have flares yet. I'm still trying to figure out what I would do for wheels and tires. I need at least 15" wheels to clear my 12" brake rotors. If I go with flares, I want wide wheels and tires. My optimal rear tire size is 275/35-15. Unfortunately, I can only get those in dry race rubber. I've driven with DOT race tires on the street, but the drys get dicey when it rains.

Id get some M&T pro 15's...

They are hi perf street rubber in almost any 15" size you could want, and they are RWL so they look like they belong on the FB...

That's a problem that I ran into with finding 13s. Couldn't find any that were in the width I wanted that wasn't race rubber. And I'm not going to stretch tires over 8" wheels.

Pity the guy didn't cut the fenders...it seems kind of pointless to put flares on but not cut the fenders to allow for a bigger tire. And it looks a little weird to see the original fenders peeking out from under the flares.

They bear a resemblance to Group C flares but the Group C flares are much wider and over the top than mine.

Nice!

No pics, but the flares are done. Paint prep underway next week. Not sure joe long it will take but will check in with updates.

I stated earlier in this thread that I'm keeping the car Dover White but this isn't set into stone. The base will be white but just not sure which white.

Yes, the wheel wells are cut. Can't say if there's any rubbing yet as I haven't driven it yet (it's not done yet).

I have no doubt that these wheels found their way on Datsuns. If you read a few postings back, I posted what wheels they are.

It's been awhile since my last update. The progress is slow due to an injury, so my 2-man shop is down to one man. As she sits now, the flares are on for good and the the paint's been scuffed. The body kit still needs sanding and feathering. A few spots on the car need to be tidied up as well. But it's coming along.

Today, we test fit the 13x8 SSR MKIIIs wrapped in 21.5x13x8 Hoosier slicks.

The Hoosiers fit great...no clearance problems in the front or back as far as the tires go. However, the 13" SSR MkIIIs didn't play well with the GSL-SE calipers. Had to grind. And grind. And grind some more. Both fronts and rears are running 1/4" spacers this time, but I'll be pulling out the spacer on the front and running a 1/8" spacer to bring the wheel in some. The rears took a 1/8" spacer and some grinding. It sticks out from the flares some but I don't mind at all. I'd rather have more meat on the ground than worry about a "hot wheels" look. I may switch the lower offset wheel on the front with the rear and see if I like that any better.

And what year range? 1st or 2nd gen?

My suspension setup:

- GSL-SE front spindles and rear axle/disc brakes/LSD
- Bilstein AE86 shocks in the back
- Tokico Illuminas (MR2 versions) in the front
- Eibach lowering springs (150 lb) in the back. Too high now...will cut dead coils to lower it once the flares are done
- GC coilover sleeves and camber plates. Springs are 350s.
- RB front sway bar (no sway in the rear)
- polyurethane bushings in the front for everything
- custom Coleman lower trailing arms w/heim joints
- stock upper trailing arms with the bushings "softened" by drilling some holes in them
- custom Coleman watts links w/heim joints

Not suspension per se, but helps with handling:

- new OEM steering box
- Moog idler arm
- new pitman arm (wasn't necessary, but I was on a roll)
- new inner/outer tie rods
- new OEM front lower control arms

Or Moog Idler Arm was TOO tight. Couldn't steer the car with it.

The seller on eBay I bought them from doesn't have any up there at the moment, but this is a recently completed auction. Note these are universal flares, but as you can see, I found they fit the first gen really, really well. I don't know how well these would work with 2nd gen.
