Gray Interior
Gray Interior
Does anyone know if any first generation Rx7s came with gray leather seats ? I'm going to be changing the red/burgundy/maroon interior to a gray interior. All I need is gray seats and gray panels (not cloth for either).
no idea.. get Gray TurboII seats, they offer more lateral support than the 1stG schoolchairs.
or invest in some good racing seats.
Just my opinion, as I save fuel by not having to slow down for corners... you may value freedom of mobility and easy entry/exit more than the ****-tight feeling of a good racing seat.

I don't think any 1st gen had a grey leather interior. The closest thing I've seen was the black vinyl with grey/black cloth inserts on doors and seats. That's what came in my 82 GSL, which now has graphite grey leather FloFit seats and custom matching leather door panels.
One of my GSL's has leather seats and door panels in brown, I have yet to see them in gray, they are an option on the 2nd gens. Fwiw, leather seats, imho, they are pretty useless in a sports car. The 1st gen seats do not have enough bolstering to hold me in the seat. I have a problem with the leather TII seats also and they are much better bolstered.
If you are spending that much time redoing your interior, you probably want something pretty nice. I would suggest checking out your local automotive upholstry shops. The leather seats I have are more like beef jerky than leather, from all of the years in the sun.
If you or someone you know has any sewing talent, the door panels are not hard to redo.
As far as cost goes, I am redoing a 300ZX. The seats, in cloth, were 450 in labor and I have about a grand total in fabric, vinyl, carpet and interior paint, (did a complete color change from the tan/gold to gray). The seat covers were the only item that was outsourced.

My 85 SE parts car has kinda bluish-grey leather seats. I'm not sure if they were reupolstered or not but they do match the interior perfectly. Also Im not sure what other color leather seats would have looked good in there....
