After reading the post about someone having their fb stolen and then I read one today in the NW forum. I just recently purchased a club for my car since I live and work in not such a safe neighborhood.

So...I was curious how many of you have a club for your car or some other anti-theft device?

clubs dont realy work to well. they can just cut your steering wheel and remove it real easy. the auto-lock goes over the clutch or gas pettle and it cannot be moved nor broke. best device i have seen. also a switch to turn off the fule pump is a good investment as well

also you can be like me... and just pull the motor out.. best anti-theft method lol

i have my storage bins out
so the power connector for the fuel pump is easy to get too

im getting a batter cut off switch from VB.. a fuel cutoff switch... a pedal club.. and an alarm...

thats of course after i get my rims paintjob and tII for my fb..

At night I also park my car with the nose about an inch from the garage and my minivan parked about 2 inches directly behind the '7

Theres NOTHING that can garentee you car wont be stolen.

I got plan on how mine wont get to far..if someone decided to steal it..

if someone really wanted your car they could rent a flatbed.... get 20 of their crackhead friends and pick your car up and throw it on the flatbed..... there really is nothing that can do to keep your car fom getting jacked unless you have a deep *** basement with a steel locking door that you car drive youir car down into..... and that would be pretty radical.... i would only get something like that if i owned a mcclaren f1.... because that is a 1 million dollar car....

True, But I use a CLUB on my seven. I already had the CLUB- I purchased it for a Protege I had that was damaged by a would be theif while sitting in an airport long term parking lot. I am using it on the seven for the same reason I used it on the Protege= It may make a would be theif look at the car next to yours simply because it is one less thing they have to deal with. Sure, they can hack saw it off, but if they are walking around with theif tools, then they are pro theives and are probably going to steal what they want regardless of anti-theft devices. I became a bit concerned with the seven when I read on this site about all the ways you can get into a locked seven. Makes the car an easy target for joy riders, which are the only theives you can really deter.

One thing about the AUTO-LOCK that bothers me: Why can't the pro theif just remove or over-ride the brake or clutch pedal switch? I am sure they already have ways around this.

Ive had The CLUB since it came out.. hardly ever put on nowadays though... it simply stays on the passenger seat while Im driving around.. in case I may ever have to use it by what its named for

No....i dont think theres anyother way....just really think about....i ve seen the infomercial for it and i mean it looks like it really works....

i mean:

lock on clutch : how would you start it?even if they get pass that...... how would you drive it? sure you could match the syncros but what about when you have to stop.

lock on the brake : you could always use the e-brake....

so i dont know really ive always wondered about that to.

they show some car jacking special on i think discover chan. and they had that famous X-RETIRED PROFFESIONAL CAR THEFT. and he said he would steal cars as soon as the person got out and started walking away from their car .....he went through a whole parking lot and said who each and every car was to steal and if it had the club how he would just bypass it, or if it had an alarm how he would by pass it, then he said now if some has an alarm, club, and autolock THEN it make him think twice cuz that 3 ANTI THEFT DEVICES HE'D HAVE TO GET THROUGH... so i guess the fact that he never mention that the autolock COULD NOT be bypassed means that they have a way....

when i first saw that infomercial i just thought punch out a hole in the undercarrage where the lock sits..........sure BOB! who the hell would do that ! ! !

very simple....

1. park the car near a sidewalk and turn the wheel towards the sidewalk with the key out until it locks.

2. put it in first gear.

3. put the club on it.

4. turn on the switch to cut off the fuel pump.

5. disconnect the negative battery terminal

6. take out one of the coil wires

7. put a cover with a bike lock on it

and that's it....lol

my car is just for fun that's why i do this to it every weekend..

Nobody actually came out and clearly told the ways to get into a locked seven (thank you, some knowledgeable members are very wise). But they did suggest areas to look at. The one that bothered me: Next time you open the driver's door, look at the larg door latch hole and its proximity to the lock.

Throw on the air horns,with the alarm sirens.
Quick release steering wheel kit.

This will just stall someone..if they want it bad..they will get it..

Umm... Have you ever noticed that no one even really turns their head when an alarm goes off anymore? Ill probably still get one, but half the time, I know I personally dont even think twice when I hear one. They just get set off too much by accident or whatever... Hell, half the teenagers around here have theirs turned so sensative just me driving by sets it off cause of the exhaust and intake in a parking lot.

Yup. Forget about installing an alarm in order to draw attention to the car. Just put a set of REALLY LOUD alarm sirens INSIDE the car. Deafen the bastard. While you're at it, throw some of the little xenon strobes in the interior and blind 'em.

There is two sides to the debate over security, as I see it. There are those that try to deter the theif by making the car visibly harder to break into. Then there are those that try to confuse and discourage a would be theif.

The first thing I must say is.... if someone really wants your car, he or she will take it. Now with that being said, you can make it a living hell to take, or as easy as leaving the doors unlocked and the keys in the ignition. So for professionals, you use devices to slow him down, in hopes that someone will see/care enough to call law enforcement.

There is a third way of slowing/stopping a theif, one that I sort of take a fancy to, but might never use. Its active defence. A theif might not want to stay in the car whoes alarm is so loud, and aimed in the interior, that it causes his/her ears to bleed, for instance. A taser would be another fun one, attached to the fabric of the bottom seat cushion of the drivers seat... good luck starting my car when 50,000 V race through your body, hehe. Ok.... not likely, and might just **** the guy off enough that he takes his crowbar to the car right there on the spot, but the thought is a funny one.

Anyway, to qualify the merits of a security device, ask yourself the questions:

1) Who will this deter? The petty CD stealing theif, The opportunistic ride and ditch, the criminal looking for an easy car to hawk for easy money, or the professional collector of stolen high-end /rare cars. Etc.

2) How does this stop/slow a theif, and how long would it take to defeat it? I would assume that if you can make a theif spend more than 10 unsucsessful minutes trying to steal your car, that most will just give up and walk away. So although I definately like the idea of deterance based on appearance (ie, club, alarm, stickers, etc. )which will stop them before they start, but when they know what you have and are equiped to defeat it, they can usually find a way around it fairly quickly. So when these fail, things like the fuel pump cutout, disabling the ignition, starter disable, and other things that make the car invisibly harder to steal are more likely to actually make the theif stop and leave.

When it comes to actualy making a security system, I think originality goes a long way. A packaged system that just "bolts-in" will always be an easy pick, because those installing the system don't go to great effort to hide the controls, and theives after running into the same system once or twice before your car will have a very good idea how to defeat it in a matter of seconds. One-off custom jobs that are well hidden, well masked, and unusual will be much more effective.

I wouldn't bother with the club. These cars dont seem to be theft magnets......only "break into and steal expensive stereo components' magnets.

I have the stock stereo, and don't expect anyone to try to mess with that. If I HAD something expensive, I'd do whatever I could to keep it all hidden.

If I wanted something to prevent car theft, I'd get whatever that system is, that allows you to remove your steering wheel, and place an unbreakable lock over the entire column.

If they break in....there is nothing for them to steal. If they had a chance to get the car started, there would be NO way to drive it.

What I have HEARD from some guys who have broke into cars in the past.....is they LOOK for the club. If someone has a club, on not that fancy of a car, it's usually because they have something inside, that is expensive, and worth stealing.

Makes sense to me.

I have Phantom security. It functions as an effective cloaking device against radar/ laser and is effective a mile away. Nearly impossible for the law to get a signal off of me. It's also hidden in the car and there's no trace of it except for a 9 volt battery tied into the main wiring harness in the engine bay. It also performs as a anti-theft system making it possible for me to lock the ignition and electrics. I have to enter a pin code to start the car. It is impossible to start the car and drive away when the system is abled unless you removed the Phantom box and all of it's hidden components and re wired the car.

Any anti-theft device, especially those that are visable (including the club), make your car a harder target than the guy next to you who feels the club doen't work and didn't bother spending the few bucks that will potentially save them thousands. I personally know of at least a dozen people who have had their cars stolen (Winnipeg is the capital of Canada when it comes to car theft). I do not one ANYONE who had their car stolen while using the club or an alarm - I like dem odd's
However, I understand why this is being debated - Hollywood has made it look easy and it has some of us worried - but most of the lame *** thieves in this city do not bother cutting steering wheels and they certainly will not sit in the drivers seat while an alarm is blaring - it's easier to move on to the next unprotected car.
