Got a dual alt pully, how do I change it?

I assume a impact gun would be best to get that nut off, but how do I keep it from spinning without damaging something? any tips are appreciated.

You can use a "strap wrench" to keep it from turning while you use the impact to get the nut off.

All you need is a impact gun. No "strap wrench" Just hold it with your hand. There are supposed other ways but the impact would be the easiest and best.

I used an impact gun, that worked great for me.

I rebuilt these things during summers in high school. The impact will spin the nut off faster than the pulley/rotor can spin up. Just grab the pulley with your hand.

Got my 80 amp FC alt today and swapped the pully, went fine as you guys said it would. I only have a 3/8" gun, but it worked fine. I tightened it till it stopped, the split washer is completely flat so it should be tight enough. thanks again
