The JDM Mazda genuine front markers are orange and can still be purchased new. The white/yellow front markers are the Aust version and are very difficult to locate. Both are NOS although I have owned the Aust markers for around 18 years. Phils Rotaries make excellent reproductions which are availabe from ebay.

I took Breezy for a drive along the northern distributor and happily sat on 90km and 80km in speed zones. The car was re-registered last week for another year, its 41st, and past the inspection without issue. The inspector took the car for a drive and enjoyed it. Here are a few snaps I took after I returned.

I received good news today from Mazdatrix with advice the GSE-SL oil cooler has been dispatched. The company is extremely efficient. I anticipate the RX7 will be returned next week.

I get why you have the seats covered but ugh, those covers. Good to see you drive it around a lot. You need to drive these cars or they get needy.

A quick update that Breezy had new seat covers fitted over the weekend😁. The brand is RM Williams which is a famous country outfitter for gentleman and women The material is a heavy canvas which will protect the seats from wear and also the sun. We haven't driven in the car with them yet due to the weather.

I forgot to bring the centre caps when we picked up the car. They were fitted in our garage.

I took the coupe for a drive this morning. It feels better on the 14inch wheels with the Konis adjusted to the softest option. It has a really nice tone to the sports exhaust and it is a very different car to drive than breezy. Both are very good cars to drive but are different. Here a few photos I took while the car was warming up.

This is a PAC Performance Radiator shroud panel which arrived in less than two days after ordering it online. Well done. The original was looking tired so is away being sand blasted and powder coated.

Sad news in Australia today with the death of Allan Moffat, the legendary driver of the famed Bathurst Mazda RX7 usually car No 43. One of his other co-drivers, Greg Handsford, who is usually associated with car No 42, was killed in a motorcycle accident a few years ago. RIP.

This is the original genuine Mazda Radiator Shroud Panel returned from the sandblaster and painted in black satin. The result is excellent and will last for many years.

For those of you who like your first gen RX7s without roofs, this Convertible Cars Australia PTY LTD example is still for sale in Adelaide with a few more pictures. The company was similar to Pacific Avatar but in Australia less than 20 convertibles were built, some built by this company, one or two were private conversions and then there were the Mazda Australia examples. The company was established by a Mazda dealer executive. Unfortunately, we did not receive the choices of 13b or 12AT or 13BT engines the US market were provided. The price is $5,200USD or $8,000AUD without engine but with gearbox. It will need some work with the body, interior, mechanics and no doubt electrics. To move it interstate from South Australia to my own state New South Wales will require an engineer's report for registration. Locally, the cost of an engineer's report is $2,150USD or $3,300 AUD and issues such as noise and pollution are part of the report. I am thinking about it to save the old car as I still have a few parts left 😁. This is the third convertible including mine with the original ownership being from South Australia which is interesting.

The plate confirming the car is a Convertible Cars Australia PTY LTD conversion which is similar to Pacific Avatar, being aftermarket. Cars were often secondhand when converted.

Thanks for the positive comments. The spark yellow convertible has great potential. It would be a shame to see it scrapped.

Definitely worth saving. The prices seem high to me but as popular as the RX7s seem to be over there it may be worth it.

Prices of early Mazda rotaries have skyrocketed especially for R100s, RX2s and RX3s. I am a realist when it comes to the value of first gens. Imo $16,300USD or $25000AUD should get you a good first gen here.

Both cars were out this morning with my youngest son driving the vert. It is fun seeing two 40 odd year-old sunrise red RX7s on the road. These are a couple of photos the cars being warmed up -

It is a nice day today so after warming the car up I was away by 6am. Old Coupe, old guy cruising up to Bald Hill lookout. Here a a few snaps.

The old Coupe looking good for 45 years.

I was sitting at a table having a coffee and the lights are immediately to my left. The car created a lot of interest from drivers waiting for the lights.

While the car was warming up this morning, I took a couple of photos of the interior with the new seat covers etc. I also took a photo of the inside lower door around the drain hole just to give an indication of the condition of the car. You can see it is spotless as are other areas of the RX7s which tend to rust in Australia - rear hatch drains, chassis rails and boot well.

I used the spare front underskirt panel on the convertible. I managed to buy a replacement from Phil's Rotaries. Left and Right Control arms.
New front panel arrived from Phil's Rotaries in Queensland.

Some photos of the car when my son took it out for a drive. On the 21st the car is heading to the suspension specialist to have the new lower control arms, ball joints, inner and outer tie rods (555 Brand) and link adjusters (Mazda) fitted. The Koni Yellows will remain as will the Lovells standard height springs.

Today I purchased this Mazda RX2 Oil Cooler NOS Genuine from a vendor who is also selling Mazda Factory Race rear shocks. The oil cooler is still in the original Mazda box.
