GOOD DAY, got lots done on the car turbo installed:D ohh yeah PICTURES:)

Well. I started the day trying to get the choke thermal swith to control my fan. That was a bust, thermal switch is broke. Then I spent an hour taking a old *** generic alarm system outa my car and fixing all the wires the last owners assed up with the alarm. Got my driver side door switch to turn the dome light on again. Bypassed the fuel pump relay while I was removing the alarm, since I was down there. Thought I accomplished alot for one day. Then I got bored at about 10 pm and went out and took the header and the rest of the exhaust off. mounted the turbo and fiddled around abit.
I figured I better install the turbo before I showed another pic of it. Starting to feel like the purple car

now without futher interuptions

I only have everything else to do. I figure if I had a full week I could finish it. But at this rate should take a month or two.

Comments and questions are welcome...

Can you turn that carb hat around? If so, turn it around and reposition the intake on it 180 and install a front mount intercooler on it. Eh, on second look at that 4th picture it appears the fuel inlet might not let you do that. Maybe it's just the angle of the picture, i don't know. Looks nice, keep up the good work.

Congrats!! Looking good

What is the reason of the box(Plenum). I was having a discussion today with a friend that is doing the same setup with a dellorto. But he's just going to make a Y pipe

like this, but Not EFI

I think I read somewhere, that this is not recommended for street cars.

What is the difference?

To do 180 with the carb hat I have to get a whole new intake manifold and linkage. BTW I already have a front mount intercooler to mount, with the hat in that position.

Ya got me as for difference or the pro's and con's, but the reason im going with it is cause it was cheap and came with the kit.

Lets see a price breakdown for your turbo setup. Mine is going to be cheap, but not nearly as cheap as yours.

Although it doesnt look like it at first glance, I have a hunch thats a pretty nice looking engine bay when all cleaned up.

as far as plenums vs just a intake pipe.

Carbs require a plenum, and efi does not.

you could put a plenum on a EFI system like in the pic, but I wouldnt do any good.

A plenum coverts flow into pressure of something like that.

Ill never know never plan on cleaning it... just joking..

The car is actually really damn ugly. 250.00 overheating gsl. little rust on the rear fender, but the last owner had macco do a green over the red paint about 10 years ago I would guess by the condition of the paint job. If I actually took the time to clean the engine bay, I think it would look decent. not iotus standards but ok.

at least when I race someone I wont be embarrased to loose, at least till the hoods are popped..

Thanks, and yes to the JDM sigma hat question..

Also Update... had a little time on my hands today. Made the downpipe and started the first section with a pre-silencer..

Home made downpipe less forty dollars...

Chance to brag about it ......priceless.

That will be my last tasteless joke on the subject..

Dammit got my foot in the damn picture

I think your friend's set up will work better. Most people have boxy plenums because they are easy to build and with forced induction it is less critival 'cause everything is pressurized.

Another decent day of getting stuff done.. Finished the downpipe said that earlier, but I put it on thats a good thing. Also started putting on the intercooler. Fits very nicely can even keep the a/c if I decide to put the compressor back on

Shot of the downpipe.

Shot of intercooler from above.

the lower inlet of the intercooler and the hole I cut to put the pipes though. Please forgive the ugly pipes they will be stripped and painted after they are mocked up.

Shot from under the bumper. last owner did the wiring on the black plastic piece. So busy fixing other stuff, didnt even notice till I saw the picture. One more thing on the clean up list.

Good job! Your IC pipe routing is similar to mine. I would use the lower piping from the turbo and higher one to the plenum. Also, are you going to running a filter in that turbo?

Here's how I did mine.

I wish, Just about to hit the big slow down. Gotta go back to work on Saturday, taking the family to the zoo tomorrow. Then the one that really hurts waiting for parts. My original plan for the oil retun is shot so I have to get more fittings.

Do have a couple questions hopefully some one can help with.

How much can I boost. Stockport engine. I'm thinking about 8lbs but with the intercooler I should be able to get away with a little more.

Anyone care to estimate the power output???????

Thanks,

I thought about doing my piping that way but i figured the cooler would more efficient with a short pipe to plenum and the long one from the turbo. I probably wont make a difference but it was the thought that made me do it that way.

I tried to find a filter for it. but the inlet to the turbo is only two inches. I need to find an adapter or something. for right now it will have that screen over it.

EDIT:
Actually I just had a thought for the filter. Ill take that HKS filiment tthat you have in yours cut it so it fits nicely over my little screen on clamp it down
