good clutch for an 1982 12a?

I have as stated, a 1982 12a (lighter weight flywheel), and i need to find myself a clutch and pressure plate for my CSP car. Its natural aspiration so i really don't need anything outrageous and a stock type clutch would probably work just fine. That and i don't want a puck type, flywheel killing clutch to begin with. What brand should i look for? OEM Mazda is probably down right expensive. I'm not sure what i can get through Napa or similar.

I went with Exedy/Daikin OEM replacement for my 83, and I run it in CSP. I well pleased with the grip, and ease of driving, as the car is frequently used as my DD.
Which size clutch do you need? 215 mm or 225 mm? There are probably more choices in the 225, as that also fits later model N/A FC's.

You can usually find a factory replacement through Canadian Tire, Napa, Carquest, etc for around 200; however, if you plan on abusing your car use a custom disc and pressure plate. Back when I had a 12a in my car I went through 3 clutch`s before I installed an ACT clutch. The pressure plates kept giving out because of my driving style. lol Anyway, I installed an ACT for around 400 and never had a problem. Be sure to resurface your flywheel! You will save yourself many problems.

i may get a heavier pressure plate, but i have the light weight 82 flywheel so the stepping the pressure plate has to match to is a bit specific

if its n/a then you're not increasing torque much, so a stock clutch is fine. for standing starts a puck type clutch is good, but not really needed.

just make sure its diaken/exedy, as thats the oem

WERD! I did score an Exedy/Daikin 225mm kit for $128 shipped, but Atkins has a good price at $150.

Entirely possible. Every Exedy PP I have ever seen, has had the Daikin logo stamped into the cover, including the one I took out of my car, as well as the one that went in it's place.
3 autox seasons on the old unit, which was in the car when I bought it, and it never gave any trouble until the very end. The disc was worn down to the rivets on both sides, yet it only slipped at launch and WOT.
Exedy/Daikin FTW! That's all I ever intend to use, in my stuff.

I bought the RB HD disc for my FB last year and I really enjoyed it. It was civil enough for everyday use but man did it grab hard when you were getting on it. I was breaking 2nd loose and chirping 3rd gear on a completely stock FB with just Eibach springs and an RB muffler. I didn't put very many miles on it before the front rotor blew so it'll be going back in with a streetported 12A, custom long primary exhaust, SA port matched and notched intake, Direct Fire, and a Sterling carb
