move to the second gen? IMO youre down grading. nothing against 2nd gen guys, they just arent my thing.

im not a fan of their styling, not until the S5 changes.

ive driven a few that were NA and was VERY unsatisfied. ive yet to drive, or ride in, a boosted wankel. so thats a whole different story.

for a project, i wouldnt do it, but thats me, not you.

well its not bad the price is right and just needs a motor. Its a base model not a GXL like he had in his tread. Marroon with gray interior power sunroof 5 speed. everything it there other than the motor. Asking price $300. But I have to wait so he can get the title back. O it also has aftermarket 17's on it with good rubber. I ll have a video up later today.

Do you have a motor alread for it? Just because you can afford to get the car doesn't automatically mean you should.

Take for example the S model I got yesterday. It lacked an engine and a tranny. I didn't take on this project until I was sure I had everything I needed. I picked up a tranny last week and pulled the engine out of my project car (it's getting an upgraded engine). I already have a radiator and ahem a beehive just lying around. Also enough nuts and bolts and the knowhow to get it in there and running. No cussing required. Infact I quite enjoy simple projects like this because they get me away from the more difficult and involved 20B and 4 rotor stuff. It's a way to reduce stress, really.

lol I look in the engine bay of a 2nd gen and my stress level rises.

I have a friend that has a goo motor but alos still looking everything else is still in the car ecu harness the motor blew an apex seal and is apart ing the hatch area may even be able to rebuild that 1 but this would be a cold weather project. Since the only thing I am planing to do to the FB this winter is ne brakes rotors and bearings and maybe a clutch.

Looks like no tranny. Good luck.

Hey maybe we can have a competition to see who can get their car running first.

No the tranny is there its in the car and will be bolted back up along with having the drive shaft back on it when i get it. Well its gonna be atleast a week or 2 before i even get the car. If I do get it. He is having to get another title. My goal it to have it ready and running by Feb. not next week.

i own a first and second gen and ill say that it is a night and day difference. but its no cakewalk with a 2nd gen..your going over to fuel injection..and that can be a bit tiedious but worth it. i would say go for it..its not as simple as carb's but it will be a definate learning exp. its a base model se from what i can tell of the video. its actually not too bad, but you dident get the interior. soo i cant really rate it.

yea i didnt get the interior be all the parts are in there engine tranny radatior and what not. so the interior will need cleanning but I ll probally just gut it and leave just the seats and dash. And on a side note a carbed 13B 87 could be fun. My mikuni on it and a nikki back on the 85 sounds like fun.

if you have the space for another car, i say buy it. i came across a very similar deal earlier this summer, picked up an 86 GXL w/ 100k on it for $300. the body is pretty clean and rust free, but the motor didnt start (turned out to be just a bad fuel pump). im planning on using the FC as a DD, and keep my FB as the weekend warrior

You bastard!! Just kidding. I have my eye on a really nice 87 GXL in my area. It also needs an engine. I have a source for that though. I just don't won't to go through the hassle of registering another car in NC without a tittle. If the guy can come up with the tittle, I'll probably get it. I say go for it............

2nd Gens are just as fun. To me, they are more of a car if you like driving long distances. If you like cruising around town,,,, well.... its still fun.

Yep.....bigger, more solid. A better touring car with more room.

I like almost everything about the 2nd gen, even the S4's. Just like the 1st gen, they are cheap fun.....nothing high tech or super fast.
Im very comfortable with the EFI and electrical junk issues the FC has,but thats because Ive been around it all for a while, although Ive never owned one myself.....no room for more cars, wish I had the space.
For 300 bucks,Id get it provided there was an engine to be had somewhere local. The S4 engines are pretty common and usually arent an issue to get for cheap.
If not,Id hold out for a GXL,Sport or GTU version. They have so much more performance stuff on them (brakes,LSD,5 lug,body/aero stuff) and they pop up for about the same price as the 4 lug Base versions..... which are basically a 2nd gen GSL-SE without the power options. Its so much eaiser to strip a GXL of its heavy luxury items and make a performance car of it,than it is to start with a Base and then locate, purchase and bolt-on the performance parts of the higher end cars.
