i had a second generation, but it got wrecked......it wasnt really my fault. so im looking for another rx7 and im positive im getting a gsl with a few mods. anyone have any suggestions on what to watch out for? or anything special.
the car apearently dynoed at 117. so how fast of a car am i looking at?
and dont worry, i'll save all my fast driving for the track.

The best thing you can do when buying any car is to check the compression on the motor and look for leaks of anything on the block. 117HP sounds good for a 12A with light mods. It won't be insanely fast, but there's potential.

To give you an idea:
The stock HP of this car rates at about 101.
You wanna be looking for a car that doesn't have much/any body rust, so check under the storage bins behind the seats by taking them out. That is one place that's notorious for rust.
The compression check is a good idea, because it gives you a pretty accurate read of the health of the engine.
Any of these mods can be considered a nice bonus to pick up:
RB exhaust (or rather, any free-flow exhaust, adds hp)
a modified carb, or an aftermarket carb (unless GSL-SE)
new suspension. Take it from me, that **** is expensive.
Good luck finding what you want to see in a car, and welcome to the 1st gen section, I'm Jon. *shakes hand*

If the car was Dynoed at 117 at the rear wheels, thats making pretty good horsepower for a 12a with light mods.
It should certantly be faster than a stock 2nd gen.
