well i got all the old oxidize and crap off by dremel. DREMEL is a must in this job. I just started using sand paper with hand. U need to do this to get a nice finish. Start by 80, then go to 120, then 220 and if it was not good enough 400 grit.

Its going to take alot higher that even 400 grit to get a good finish.

Your going to need to do 600, then 1200, then 2000, then a polishing paste to get it really shinny.

You need to get all the pit out before you move up to 400 grit too.

Yeap I agree with Dyre....you will START to see the shine at 400 but once you pass 600 and up you'll get that satin finish look...at aroun 1000 you'll get a reflection on it...with the paste is mirror..like chrome like. ( I just satin finished my wheels today...no time for mirror like)

in few words it's time consuming but well worth the effort.

Does anybody know a good product to keep the polished parts looking like new?

A shot of clear works good for me once I polish something.

USE STEEL WOOL!!!

You can accomplish the same task in like 3 hours with 3 or 4 different "grains" of steel wool.

Using XXX will produce a chrome like shine.

cheers'

Heres what I do. Get some aluminum polish. Get a buffer and buff the hell out of it. If you do it long enough you get a almost mirror polish.

I am going to do it to myu Mazdatrix 45 dcoe intake manifold when I get it to mach my chrome RB streetport exhaust
