Go me!
Well,
I don't know if I told the RX7 Club yet but coming from a $6/hr car wash job I moved up to the Geek Squad at Best Buy...little do they know I'm about to drive the hell out of that New VW Bug.
Oh, yes, you read right, from a car wash to working on computers, I've been doing work out my house for two years now but was too young to join the crew at Best Buy so as soon as I turned 18 I applied and got the job the next day for $8/hr part time.
Now, I did my math,
$8.00
x 40 Hours
--------------------------------
$320
- $75 Insurance (2 Cars)
--------------------------------
$245
-$25 Cell Phone Bill
--------------------------------
$220
-$40 Gas
--------------------------------
$180
Looks like I'll be bringing home $100 - $180 a week for the RX7 only and the occasional date with my girlfriend!

Did you figure taxes? Is this 40 hours for 2 weeks (you said part time)? Are those expenses the amount monthly or biweekly, etc.? Just saying you might not have as much left over as you thought (may have more though depending on expenses). Good luck on the new job. It is always nice to go up in pay.

Black/White/Orange VW Bug...each guy has a day where he has to make house calls and gets paid by the mile plus double pay for when he's doing house calls.
Yeah, that's why I said $100-$180 because of taxes, it's a lot better than not having ANY money left over and crap breaking, hell I can't even get my RX7 started right now, I'm tempted to just sell it, but I figure if I buy everything peice by peice I'll get there.

But are those expenses weekly? (i.e. $75/week car insurance) Is it 40 hr/week, (because you said part time)? If it is part time, then the $320 is for 2 weeks (if 20 hr/week). For $320, the taxes would be near $70 here (depends on state, dependents, etc.). I am not trying to be negative or anything, I am just trying to help you figure out how much you'll actually have left over.

No,
If I work a 40 hour week (40 hours max on part time). I should be getting paid every week, I didn't ask though.
Maybe I might have to end up selling the RX7

Let's figure it up like this:
- How many hours per week do you expect to work?
- What are your monthly expenses (insurance, cell phone, etc.)?
I am sure you'll have money left over. We should be able to at least come up with a reasonable estimate of what you'll have left over for fun money.
For instance, let's say you work 20 hr/wk. That is $160 per week (before tax) or about $640/month.
Now say the expenses you listed were for 2 weeks (half a month), so you would be looking at:
-$50 cell
-$150 insurance
-$80 gas
=$280
So you end up with $640 - 280- taxes = total left
Guess $40/week tax (don't really know) makes it 640 - 280- 160= 200/month or about $50 a week. If you worked 40 hr/wk, then you may have about $180/wk left over.

Cell Phone Bill - $25/week
Insurance - $75/week
Gas - $30-50/week
I'm going to be making $8/hr and hopefully I'll be getting full time pay soon as soon as a spot frees up, I think they are just seeing how I do first.

JEEBUS that seems like a high insurance rate!
$300 a month? On two cars? RX7 and what?
Just seems like they're killing you to me.
Last time I could afford insurance it was something like $220 a month for the 323 and the RX7.

$300/month on insurance?? if you have 2 cars covered then why not put your mom or your dad as primary driver on the most expensive one (most likely the rx7) and put yourself as primary on the cheaper one? just trying to make a suggestion that might help you out, ive done it like this before and saved a bunch of money.
oh and $100/month on a cell phone?? jesus what kind of plan do you have?

Actually, it's only $50 a week, I forgot to tell you that the $25 went to a computer bill (didnt have the money to custom build this time around).
And it's $80/month, two lines, me and my girlfriend for the cellphone she covers her half though.

Do you go to school? If not you may want to consider waiting tables in your spare time. I know it sounds Shitty but it really isn't that bad. My brother in law works at o-charleys here and makes an average of $200 a night waiting tables on friday and saturday nights..
he only works two nights a week cause he is in high school.
Figure a meal costs about on average $35 for two people with drinks...-
Most people will At least give you 15 %. Most nights you will wait on 4 tables an hour, the average shift is about 4-5 actual waiting hours..
SO- 5X$30= $150 X 0.15 (your minimum tip %)= $22.50 in tips alone per hour
$22.50 X 5= $112 in tips alone on a minimum of a $30 bill for 5 hours. These are all rough estimates.. But something to think about.. I go out at least once a week and rarely is my bill under $50.
Plus you get $2.15 an hour so that is another $8-10 a night......
So on average you would make About $120 a night working minimum hours 2 days a week
$240 a week x 4 = $960 a month for working 8 days a month..
Some food for thought....

If the 7 isn't running, drop the insurance on it until it is. Seems like a no-brainer way to save a few bucks on one of your biggest bills. Hope that helps out a little.

Installing Software, Installing Hardware...I personally do that PLUS software coding and web design on the side...
I've had many offers for me to do contract work for web design firms on the side, but they all yank my chain in pay so I've gotten to the point where I get paid FIRST.
