glue
Does anyone know anything about glueing replacement panels onto a car body?It seems to me that with all the space age adhesives we have, welding should be unnecessary .

bob check out The hilty corporation, they make some adhesives that run up to 50~60 k tensile which equates out to about the same as a standard 6013 welding rod 6013= 60K strength 13 = ( the quickly it changes from a molten to a "hard" state while welding
the one time I used the hilty stuff we were glueing 50 lbs lexan panels into place for a mini sub that goes down to 80 feet (project a friend and I did) it held the panels inplace with no problems, with the panels glued from the inside the steel lip was on the outside of the sub, and the lexan was glued to the inside (mistake on our parts while scratching it together) but it held
our biggest problems at the time were shaft seals that would/could hold the pressure, the glue we used gave no problems and held out for about 3 years that we played with it.

LOL I wonder if I can get an endorsement check from "Liquid Nails" by adding a sticker to my back deck ? Right next to the 3M sticker ( for the heavy duty spray upholstery adhesive ) and the Velcro sticker.
Seriously, that 3m stuff is THE NEW CAR SMELL for real.

LOL. The inventor of Liquid Nails does not recommend it for automotive applications, sorry. It might work for a couple years, but a 2-part epoxy or even a polyester adhesive with separate catalyst would be better.
