Glass Sunroof

Hi

No doubt this has been covered before but I'm new to this forum so I apologise at the outset.

I'm trying to find a complete glass sunroof for my 1984 car which is being rebuilt over the winter here in England. Any suggestions?

By the way, nice to find an RX7 site, we don't have anything for the RX7 1st gen here in the UK. Thanks.

Jon

you can check the classifieds here or on ebay...although i'd imagine you are going to pay and arm and a leg for the shipping

I saw one on eBay just a few days ago. Seems like it was around $150.00 US and I don't remember the shipping.

I have a few of those: I always grab them from the junkyard. But shipping to UK is expensive since the glass is heavy. But keep in touch: Maybe I can figure a way to take one to France when I go next.

If you decide to get it shipped from North America, keep your eyes open on auctions and wait until they go for like fifty dollars.. on e-bay or on here. They get that low sometimes. I paid 100USD for mine, then the next week two of them came up on here for fifty bucks!

Junk Yards! You can get them from 25.00 to 100.00 just depends on the yard.

Any idea if the glass tops would fit on an 82 GSL? I've read somewhere that there are a few different sizes, but really don't remember now that I want one.

Theres often glass moonroofs forsale on the forum as a matter a fact. Thats where I got mine the guy bought it new but never used it. It just sat in its leather pouch for like 20 years and now I have it. I don't think you can come anymore mint condition than that.

moonroof. yeah right here. ppg, no scratches, all hardware, clean. $80.00 dollors US
i've shipped overseas before so i know how to crate the glass to get there in one piece. but the shipping cost you'll have to pick up. if you need other parts, inside/outside, trim, lenses, switches, whatever. make a list and can be shipped in one crate.

Mark

Thanks for the info. My car is a 1984 with a steel sunroof which has a large **** to raise and lower the rear edge. Is your moonroof the same? If so, then we need to talk/e-mail.

Someone asked what roofs fit which model SA/FBs
79 is unique; 80-85 all accept the same roof panel

Topline, whatever reasonable amount you have to pay, it is WELL worth it. Believe me the glass roof will _totally_ transform your driving experience!!! When I bought my RX7 in California (to drive it to Alaska), I took my glass roof as lugguage going down, swapped it onto the car and mailed the steel roof home to Alaska! I was NOT going to miss the driving experience of that "open" roof. Best accessory money I have ever spent!!
