Given up on the first one I looked at. How about this one?

Hey guys
The car I went in looked at in Knoxville is a no go. The owner called me the other day and told me he got it back from his mechanic and he said he couldn't find anything wrong with it. That is obviously not true. So I decided to start looking again and found this one.

https://nashville.craigslist.org/cto/5085845123.html

It's an 84 with a bridge ported 13b and all sorts of goodys. Carb intake and racing beat exhaust. The only thing it needs is the belt for ac radio and temp sensor for the gauge.

My question for yall is should I be questioning buying this. He immediately came off the price giving the reason of a new child coming soon but still he went from 4400 to 2500 quick. I'm worried that something might be seriously wrong even though it's a good deal.

Just want to know what yall think. Also the motor was recently rebuilt and has like 50 miles on it.

Hello, that car sure looks nice, but what is your intentions with it? If you need it as daily transport, I say look elsewhere for something more stock. If this is a fun toy, that will come out now and then, well this is a nice car for that. It appears to have some expensive items on it.

I have never owned a BP, but it certainly doesn't sound ideal for most street applications.

Overall, my guess the price isn't crazy.

So it all boils down to what you need from the car.

Good luck

Rich

Thanks

This would be mainly a fun car that would get driven as much as it can without breaking.

I'm just worried something is seriously wrong with it with him coming down in price that quick.

I have a 1985 GSL-SE for sale. Just finishing up a bunch of power coated parts. I'm near Kansas City Missouri. New price is $4500 with all the powder coated stuff.

i like the stock GSL-SE better. you will have to figure out what the problem is, but it will be easier to do that than get the bridge to run right

I agree, the first car is a better buy and its probably a small issue wrong with it. The second car is
anyones guess and a BP is not streetable really and also depends on how well it was done and by
whom. Lots of unknowns with the BP.

The bridge already runs and drives. And the gsl-se is 3 hrs away and it won't make it home on its own. By the time I rent a trailer and pick it up I'm looking at 500 plus 2500 for the car.

Here are the details from the gsl-se when I drove it. It lurches bad in first like you can't drive it in first at all unless you don't touch the gas. Won't rev over 4000 rpm under power and the clutch fan belt squeals so it's not engaging. And then after driving it for about 15 miles it dies and won't start back up for half an hour or so. Has an oil leak. Needs brakes and tires and alignment.

You asked for our advice and we gave it. I'm not going to debate the issue with you. Its your
choice.

I know and I think you for that. The issue I'm having is the longer I wait the more I am leaning towards something else and I really want a rotary

you can't rush with these things unless you know what you're doing and (i say this with respect), you don't. i won't comment on the bridgeport streetability, but i will comment on it being the deeper end of the pool. i'm not clairvoyant, but i would almost guarantee that there's more wrong with it than the owner said. i'm with T.G. Farrell and J9fd3s. if you think you should pass on the SE, it probably goes double for the bridge.

well put! i wouldn't touch that bridge with a 10 foot pole, but i would buy that GSL-SE twice. and i own a PP car, and its the best thing i've ever done. my bet is that the bridge is a mess and needs a tons of work. the GSL-SE needs a TPS adjustment, belt, and probably an ignitor.

I know the guy selling the 13b bridge car. Seems like a decent guy that wouldnt try to screw someone over. Bottom line is whatever RX7 you buy I GUARANTEE you will have to put some money into it.They are fantastically amazing cars, but there is no way you can expect to buy one and get off scott free without any repairs. If you think you can buy one without any quirks or needed repairs your woefully misinformed about old cars.

i'm sure he is a decent guy, but i'm picky, and there would be a bunch of work to get the car just so. its a bunch of work to get a stock car dialed too, i treat em like a stock class autocrosser, so i go through a bunch of crap
