What is it you want to drive with a gilmer belt?
A supercharger?
A cam?
Give us a hint of what you are asking.

Cool Gilmer

I do not have one, but have toyed with the idea for my 2nd gen and when I had my 1st gen. It is a wider belt w/ teeth to it and pullys to go with. You can find them at Tweakit.net. I would be interested to hear the pros and cons from anyone who has used the gilmer set up as well.

  • Pro - no belt slippage under any RPM or load condition.
  • Con - belt whine will have every street punk in a Mustang, Celica and Accord trying to "race" you at every light.
But I don't actually have one...I've just heard a Gilmer on a street car....raise the hair on your arms with a blip of the throttle...

Yep....a supercharger doesn't make that whine sound, that's the teeth of the Gilmer belt as it rips through the air...

I may be selling one of those here pretty soon, although it has a larger alt. pulley so it's more suited to a higher idling engine. Fits both 12A & 13B.

I want it.....

I checked out some Australian websites and I guess its a big thing over there.

The whine gets louder or quieter depending on how tight the belt is.

Smeagol... I am interested in your kit let me know hopw much via PM and we can work something out!

I will post sound bites after i get it done!

6 months til Rotorfest!!!!

Damn fine looking unit, but I need my powersteering, even moreso when I go from 7" to 9" wide rims on the front of the widebody. Don't think I want to be using manual steering with the eventual 245 wide tires in the front, lol.

^^^or you could just start working out a little more. lol

on a second note, you probably could make a custom one for the power steering and just get a bigger belt.

The question that i'm woudering though is that how much more power does this steal form the engine over the traditional type.

Why would you see a power loss?? The only drag would be from the water pump and alternator. You normally have these anyways. I could see a slight lag to it, seeing as it wouldnt allow it to slip and little and then catch up.
