getting gas in the oil
i have a 81 gsl and ever since ive had it its run bad, and got terrible gas milage. i havent been wanting to fix for fear it wouldnt run at all, (i dont know anything about a rotary engine). then finally it did break so i have to fix it(guess its a good thing). the past couple of days ive had an oil leak, but the oil level has been rising and i thought that quite peculiar. the oil that was leaking was very thin, and i always smelled gas. so my prob is that the carb is pumping so much gas that it gas fouled the spark plugs, and was getting in the oil. so i took off the carb, and took a lot of pics so id know where everything went. anything else i need to do, other than get plugs. are all the plugs the same or are they different, and ive been told to only use NGK. thanks for any help.

When you rebuild the carb, make sure to clean the two glass windows really well. When you set the floats, use the factory setting to get it close and then adjust it to run the fuel up to exactly halfway in those glass windows.

Find youself a Haynes manual, it has a pretty decent step by step on rebuilding/trouble shooting the 12a carbs. If not, there are FSM's online that you can download.
I don't mess with the stock carbs, I have a shelf full of them, they get replaced with aftermarket ones. One of these days I'll learn more about them. It might be easier than fighting the tuning on the aftermarket ones.

i think i may have discovered the heart of the problem. i got the carb apart and i was looking at some diagrams of it, and it appears that whoever rebuilt it the last time got the secondary and primary jets mixed up and put them in the wrong place. would this cause the kind of problem im getting. or maybe im reading the diagram wrong.
