get my secondaries moving

ive started the 1980 7 which hasnt ran since 89. It starts and runs very well know, the only thing is when I drive it, it seems like the secondaries dont open by what ive read searching (car accelerates poorly at around 4000+, and doesnt rev very quickly in neutral). So how can I free up the secondaries? Ive sprayed carb cleaner in there and it hasnt seemed to help?

I think the 80 has a solenoid that controls the vacuum to the carbs secondaries. Check the carb manuals over at www.rotaryrefs.net

Umm, shouldn't it rev freely in nuetral even without the secondaries operating? I actually have mine completely disconnected right now (don't ask) and she still runs right up there as long as its in nuetral....

Change your fuel filter lately? Had to ask that before someone beat me to it!

i changed the fuel filter, and it does rev freely all the way up to redline, i was just thinking it would rev quicker if the secondaries were open

It is a solenoid-operated power valve, not the secondaries, on the '80 model..............
