Generation 1 or 2?

Hi, I am wondering what Generation my RX-7 is?

Is a 1981 RX-7 and the VIN is JM1FB so, I read somewere that my car was generation 2 but out here it say that generation 1 is from 1979 to 85. I am a bit confuse.

It's '79 to '85 indeed. There were changes within the "First Gens", but 79-85 are first gens.

Welcome to the forums - and be sure to check over the FAQ sticky at the top of the thread list in the First Gen section.

Maybe you read that it was an S2? I think that's when they changed the body/interior styling the first time.

It's a first generation, series 2. It goes:

79-80 S1
81-83 S2
84-85 S3
86-88 S4
89-91 S5

Man what I wouldn't do to have an 02 Effini.

Matter of fact, let's throw in an LE and an Infini (III) and have that dream lineup of super-rare RX 7. . . .
