I was wondering if a second generation hood, with the hood scoop, would fit on a 1st Gen 1984 rx7 gsl.

Btw, I'm new to this site and going to pick up my first rx7. It's been garage kept since day 1, always been serviced, very clean, with only 70k miles. But the car has been sitting for 10-12 months.

No, but you can always cut and hack your hood till it fits.

 

The 1st Gen hood opens from the windshield side, the second Gen hood opens from the headlight side. Mounting, shape, and size are all different. If you're aiming for a scoop on your 1st Gen you'll have to cut one out of a 2nd Gen hood and weld it into your first Gen hood. It would be a cool look, but without the intercooler that normally sits behind the scoop you'd either have to fashion some kind of filtered cold air intake or leave it non functional. Seems like a lot of work for a non functional scoop but might be worth it for an awesome looking cold air intake.
