My insurance just went up to 280 a month, I'm 17 and not in school but this is the second time they've raised it without any cause.
1) I have no tickets
2) I havent been in any wrecks.

Ahh... Yes... The joys of being a young male in Louisiana. Basically, buddy, we are screwed. Louisiana is notorious for insanely high insurance rates; which, in turn, causes less people to drive with out insurance; which, in turn, makes insurance payers pay more to cover the cost of uninsured accidents.
Yay for Louisiana, poor people, and insurance companies!
Hell, I can't even get my full license until I get a job that can *hopefully* cover my quoted insurance rates... I believe $5,000 a year was the rough estimate they gave me.
BTW, I'm 16 and will be on my parents insurance plan. They both have turbocharged vehicles, my father has had probably 35 speeding tickets in his life, and two or three years ago, he was in a single car accident.
This blows...

Mine is like $25 a month or so with State Farm. I would either go without insurance or call somebody else if I was paying 280 a month. Hell, it better be for a brand new car for that much.
After 3 months without insurance, it pays for the ticket you would get at 280/month. Here in Kentucky it would, anyways.

I never got anywhere w/G-CO they're always insainely high. My car isn't insured yet but my trucks are, and with my current insurance I pay $120 for both $97 for my 93' (full coverage) and $20 more for my 72' (liability). With G-CO it was about $1500 every 6 months. for just one of them.
I'm 19 with a drag racing ticket on file.

Why not do the classic car insurance? I read another post on here, I forget the name of the company, but the prices they quote for basic liability for the whole YEAR is less than you pay per month. All 1st gens are over 20 years old now, and considered "classics" to them....

Buy a second Guage cluster, and when it comes time to re-insure...put in your old one for a couple weeks for a couple hundred miles, re-insure, swap back....
but thats not morally correct...

Even if there wasn't a driving experience requirment for classic car insurance, it would still be high. It's not the car that makes the rates insanely high; it's my age and location. How dare you blame my baby for high rates! :P
