gauge

Ok so I have had issues with my gauges since i bought the car. In the beginning my volt, water temp didnt work at all and my oil pressure was always pegged.

So I took my gauge cluster out and i cleaned up the back of the connections on the gauges. Then i hooked each gauge to the battery and all the needles moved fine. I then tested the wires at the connection that goes to the gauges i had power (with the key on) to a few of them. The water temp i didnt get any power to.

So i put the gauges back in and got the car put back together. now my oil pressure works fine, volts works fine but still have no water temp.

Also I have found out (the hard way) that my gas gauge misreads about a 1/4 tank off. I cant find a fuel level sending unit anywhere, I cant even find it in the book.

Anyone have any advice on this?

Fuel level sending unit is in the tank. Removing the plastic splash guard from the drivers rear wheel well will give you access to the connector which is typically corroded.

The sending unit should be available from blackdragon auto. I bought a new sending unit about a year ago, sending units fail all the time. But to make sure I would recommend downloading the factory service manual and testing to ensure that it is your problem.

The couple of sending units I have replaced over the years I had to drop the tank and drill the heads of the screws (yes screws not bolts) in order to remove the unit. I then replaced with bolts. Could not believe Mazda used soft screws to attach the sending unit to the tank.
At least in the north east, this proved to be a little problem.

Not sure if Black Dragon has them but MazdaTrix has them about $80.00

If I'm not mistaken, there is a procedure to adjust them to be accurate. But this requires you to remove from the tank anyway.

Water guage, possible sending unit problem ?

Trick to removing the screws is PB Blaster, set overnight, then use an impact screwdriver. I replace the OEM screws with allen head bolts. SS ones if you can find them.
