Yes it will fit. Price? I dunno, if it's in really really good shape with no rust, I'd pay $150

Um I had to put a new gas tank on my '85 and I got a refurbished one from a rad shop in my town, and it was not cheep. This was just the tank no sender. It was like $350 CND which is still a far cry cheeper then the ones from MazdaTrix. Would make it approximatly $250 USD.

The Damn things are not cheep.

Yeah, I'm hoping to hell that the leak in mine is "refurbishable"... should be.. but I haven't taken the tank out yet so I don't know.

I found a place in Gloucester that will refurb them for $135-$150 Canadian. I had to buy a new fuel level sender from Mazdatrix (almost $200 CDN by the time it got to my door). If you find a good one in a part yard that is in good shape, go for it.

I did a search in the forum for "Gas Tank Differences" and came up with this:
http://intertron.com/ron/tank.html

good to know the search works well *hint hint*

I just bought one for my 83 GS + L for $50. You just need to find somebody with 5+ RX-7's who wants to reduce their stock of parts.

I had to drop my tank to get it cleaned because it was so rusted up inside from sitting. Cost $55 to have it cleaned and the thing looked brand new when the guy got done with it. Wayne's Radiator shop here in Farmington, MO if y'all are ever in town

You'll know if you've got a significant amount of rust in the tank. Your fuel filter will quickly clog up with it. I think mine was from just sitting with a partial tank of gas for two or more years. Gas collects moisture and it some of what I thought of as rust may have also been deposits from the old gas.
