Gas Tank and Weird White Stuff on the Top of My Oil Cap

Hey guys,

I have an 82 GSL. The two problems I'm having are:

The gas tank is vacuuming itself. Is there a bleed valve or something that might be clogged up?

The other problem I'm having is I get this really weird whitish green mildoo at the top of my oil inlet. I've replaced the oil and found no antifreeze or anything. What might cause this? Sorry dont have my camera can't take a picture.

Thanks guys

For the first problem, check your tank vent lines for and charcoal canister for blockage.

For the second, do a search for "lung mustard" or "lung butter". It's a problem with your PCV system.

Yes lung butter is bad **** it comes from moisture build up it can be somthing simple like making sure the small hole on side of the oil filler tube isnt letting in water.

One question what does the charcoal canister do exactly (i read somthing about it getting rid of fumes)? It was removed from my car by the po along with all other emissions components. Do i need it? sorry for thread jacking.

its best to keep the charcoal canister. it catches the fuel vapors from the carb and the fuel tank when the engine is turned off. fuel vapors can be dangerous.

Both those symptoms are related in a way; the PVC and tank vent sytems are interconnected.
