Gas tank options 83 GS?

I have searched and searched for reproduction tanks. No where to be found. Tried gastanks.com abd several other websites. Nothing! My tank is TRASH. Bought one from junkyard, got call from the local rebuilder (best in town) says its way too rusted all across the top and very thin next to filler neck. Needless to say not fixable. Anything available from other cars that's even close? I can handle mounting it etc just need something with filler neck and such on drivers side. Any ideas - as side of the 500 dollar one Atkins or mazdatrix has?

I see the picture if I search but thats it... Surely that has to be something thats widely available that I can get to fit up there.... Our gas tanks really look like CJ Jeep tanks. I saw some in a catalog at the local Pivco (body shop supplies and such). It didnt have any damn dimensions but The picture really resembled it.

Hell I'll take a rectangle shaped one. Surely something will fit? I was hoping someone else had rigged one up there.

If it ever came down to replacing my tank, I'd opt for a fuel cell. Remove the spare tire, cut a big hole, weld up a a cage, and drop in the fuel cell. I think I've seen several on this board.

Too bad no one has thought about making fuels cells in the shape of a tire....

I don't want anything in the interior of the car. Also don't won't to go without a spare.
