Gas gauge doesn't work

Any idea what causes this? My gas guage won't go up. I need to turn the car on every couple days to keep the battery alive, so I looked at the guage and it was near empty...I drove it to the closest gas station, about 2 blocks away and pumped 4 gallons of 87 octane..(i'm not even driving the car...so I don't care to pump 91 right now...I have a engine swap and other things which are more costly) so I drive it back and stare at the gas gauge, and NOTHING!. Not even a milimeter. Somethings wrong and I don't know much about wiring. What should I do?

Thanks

its most likely your fuel gauge sending unit, same thing with mine, for now im living with it, because you have to drop the tank and change it which is hard with the rusty screws etc, i doubt its the wiring or the gauge itself, but check all your fuses,

and plus the thing that breaks is almost always the hardest to replace...
