Fun at the junk yard...
Well I went to the junk yard today... looking for J109 ignitors.. and it happened to be half off at the u-pull-it type junk yard. I ended up picking up 6 coils and 8 ignitors. (along w/ the 2 coils I happen to have laying around)
Maby a bit over kill but they were really cheep so I figured what the heck.. there were a ton of 1st gen reXes there.. no GSL-SE's and most-to-all were 81-84. Wasn't able to get any other parts that I needed (just couple things in the interor cracking) but man.. they have a TON of stuff (I would even consider getting others parts if they needed them next time I go).
None the less.. if people are having a hard time finding ignitors and coils I have a few... I don't know how to test coils.. but I didn't grab any that had white residue inside... just the really clean looking ones.
I want to tackle the DLIDFIS tommorw but it might not happen... I'm going rock climbing in the morning and then checking out a 93 red touring in the afternoon on the other side of town. *shrug* we'll see. I still need to fix my idle problem. Weeeeeeeee.... none the less... I guess this was kind of a useless post... except for the offering of my extra parts. Mabey when I'm done w/ this conversion I'll create a kit... (if I find time lol) not that it's hard.. but that would just make it eaiser on people.
Have a good night all.. time for bed...............

It's nice to know that someone out there enjoys one of my favorite things...Yard roaming, or exploring, if you wish. Some of the best times I've had were when me and a friend cruise the yards looking for bargains, or just odds and ends. For example I know a yard 'round here with five 1st gen Rex's...One is a GSL-SE, and another is an '83 LE. I've already raided both, took the BBS 14" 110mm style wheels from the LE (too bad the weather ruined the leather interior) The glass roof from the SE, and some minor electrical parts. I'm tempted to buy the whole SE as a parts car. I also know of a yard that has 4 of the '78/'79 stock wheels.
It's a relaxing bit 'o fun to take a Tuesday or Wednesday off work and with tool box in hand, go hunting, or fishing if you perfer, on a sunny day in the yard. I especially like the small, out of the way yards. They always stir my memories, and some hold small treasures that can be had at a pitance.
Sometimes I wish I could go roaming in Arizona....It must be a real joy to look over all those rust-free broken ponies...I envy you Mr. Lynx....
Thanx, and a tip of the Stetson,
Denny, from the 'ol corncrib....
