I get the feeling the average age on this board is a lot younger than the "low 30s"

I've driven my car with no front license plate forever, I just hate to mount that bracket and muck up the nice looking front end.

The last time I was pulled over in the car, the trooper asked me if I had just had the car repainted (noticing the sparkling black shine in the sun ). Realizing what he was getting at, I said yes, and he said that must be why I didn't have a plate bracket on the front of it yet.

He said he liked the color a lot, and let me go with a warning! That was way back in '95

The way it worked, ZI believe in WWII, the american soldiers in the japanese POW camps, would flip off all the japanese soldiers, and told them it was the "hawian good luck sign". They eventually found out what it really was, and supposidly there were screams all night long.

Its true! I saw it on the history channel.
History lesson for all you young farts. It actually happened in the '60's during the capture of the USS Pueblo. That was a US ship the the North Koreans captured and held everyone captive for about a year. This was in the days of less politically correct holding of spies and prisoners. They were not brutally tortured, but their captors did not treat them nice. One of the guys gave one of the Koreans that had just beaten him the finger and the Korean asked what that gesture meant. The sailor was quick enough thinking to say that it was the Hawaiian good luck sign. So from then on all the crew were constantly giving the Koreans the Hawaiian good luck sign. The Koreans lined them up for pictures to send back to the us to show they were being well treated (which they were not) and they showed the Hawaiian good luck sign in the pictures. They made videos of the crew where the crew had to read and say what they were told. The crew would end the video with a smile and the Hawaiian good luck sign... It was actually a great story, so good that you have to think it is not true, but they have shown the unedited pictures and videos on things like the History channel these days.

I just wanted to tell this because it is too good of a piece of history not to pass along to younger kids.
