full throttle power loss!!!!

HELP!!!!!!

Okay, I autocrossed the car yesterday. First run went fine. Pulled up to the line for the second run, and bogged off the line. Now, the car has no power past half throttle. Idle is fine, and starts fine. The plugs were a week old. They came out black and smelling of fuel... new plugs had no effect. The setup:

12a Streetport
Direct fire
Dellorto 48 carb

A wild guess from my gut says, I mean from my gut - a first gen firt time autocross thing maybe, is that it could be associated with fuel - liquid fuel deivery. Perhaps some debris was dislodged in the tank.

My first thought was your first run stirred up debris in your tank and impeeded the fuel flow though the filter, until you described the plugs. Either you are running rich or you are not getting enough spark or air flow. It still may be that debris has gotten to the carb and caused a sticking float or needle, not that familiar with the Dells. As easy as they are to work on, removal and cleaning may take care of it.

If that fails to take care of it, check the filter and ignition. If all of the plugs are nearly identical in fouling, it's either weak voltage, too much fuel, or not enough air.

Ahh but is it possible, that with oil injection associated with the lack of proper combustion -cauesed by lack of fuel, the excess oil could be showing up on th plugs, giving a fouled appearance? Might be a slim chance of this, and the chance would be even less on a pre-mix operation.
So Lt. Dan, are you running premix or do the stock oil injectors still operate?

OR, are you unsure if they operate and you add 12 Oz. of MMO to a tank like I do, until you find out fore sure?

What % capacity does that represent with the lever being fixed at 9'O clock?

Let us know what you discover.

Update:

took the carb off and disassembled it as much as I felt comfortable. Re-assembled and installed... Same problem.

Replaced fuel filter. Same problem.

Any other hints or ideas?

UPDATE:

Car is running like a raped date again!!!

I think the cause ended up being the fuel filter. I just didn't give it enough time running for all the crap to clear out... Thanks for all the input guys!!!!!
